Le Montrachet
The Amiot family, owners since 1920, produces a micro-cuvée of Montrachet whose elegance is only improved by its rarity: shared between a handful of winemakers, this terroir of Montrachet Grand Cru gives Chassagne-Montrachet the reputation of producing “the best white wine in the world”.
The Amiot family,
5 generations of winegrowers
With a history that goes back to 1920, the Amiot family has been rooted locally in the Chassagne-Montrachet terroir for generations.
The founders, Flavie and Arsène, introduced a winegrowing tradition which was passed down to their son Pierre, who married Simone, and then to their grandson Guy Amiot. Today, it is the turn of the two brothers, Thierry, the winemaker, and Fabrice, the brand developer, to carry on this tradition. Héloise, Thierry’s daughter, also has both feet in the vineyard, so to speak, as she writes the next chapter in the story.
A women's domain
Since 2015, both of our special cuvées, Bourgogne Chardonnay “Cuvée Flavie” and Bourgogne Pinot Noir “Cuvée Simone”, pay an eternal tribute to the two women of the family who played a key role in the life of Domaine Amiot:
Flavie (1887-1969) founded the estate (purchasing the vines, houses, educating the children). Simone (1922-2009) devoted her life to working in the vineyards, the wine cellar and the kitchen to welcome customers and wine aficionados.

Terroirs & Know-How
A family-owned vineyard
With a history that goes back to 1920, the Amiot family has been rooted locally in the Chassagne-Montrachet terroir for generations.
The founders, Flavie and Arsène, introduced a winegrowing tradition which was passed down to their son Pierre, who married Simone, and then to their grandson Guy Amiot. Today, it is the turn of the two brothers, Thierry, the winemaker, and Fabrice, the business developer, to carry on this tradition. Héloise, Thierry’s daughter, also has both feet in the vineyard, so to speak, as she writes the next chapter in the story.
Sustainable viticulture, reasonable viticulture
Tilling, de-budding (removal of unnecessary leaves and shoots to favour the development of the bunches), trellising, leaf removal, and so on, are all techniques that allow natural control of yields while preserving the quality of the grapes. For the prevention of the most common vine diseases (mildew, oidium, etc.), we use a reasonable and reasoned pest control approach depending on the risk.
